What’s up, y’all!

What a whirlwind it’s been since last we spoke. So many things to figure out and finalize, but we did it! We left Gold Hill, Oregon, last Friday and didn’t look back.

Our first day on the road was short and sweet. We headed to Lake City, California, to stay with some friends. Lake City isn’t really a city, it’s barely even a town. The nearby town of Cedarville is where the community really gathers, and they were nice enough to host a steak dinner to celebrate our arrival.

Just kidding! It was a community event to raise money for the local radio station, and we were lucky enough to be in town that night. I got a nice tour of the downtown before dinner, and one of the places I visited was the cool art gallery pictured below, along with an antique store and the local public house. What a friendly, welcoming town.

We also had a chance to go cruise the high desert, and spotted some wild horses, along with a herd of antelope. It was breathtakingly beautiful, and I mean that literally. I went for a run before we left, and the nearly 5000’ elevation actually took my breath away. I had to stop and walk.

Luckily my run this morning here in Arizona went much easier. We’re only at 3300’, and it was a gorgeous, warm morning to run up and down the mountain.

Speaking of how warm it is, we are planning on camping tonight. We left California on Sunday, and drove halfway across Nevada to Goldfield for the night. It ended up being nearly 10 hours in the truck, which was far too long, but we maybe kind of took a wrong turn along the way. 😁 Turns out road trips go a lot smoother if at least one of us is paying attention to the road signs, so we’ll try and do better at that!

Didn’t realize until last night, but we went from Gold Hill to Goldfield to Golden Valley. Wish we had found some actual gold, but nope, just cozy AirBnB’s! We’re really excited that we’re finally going to get to camp tonight. It’s warm down here! I hear that a snowstorm is hitting Southern Oregon, sounds like we left just in time.

Make sure you’re following the YouTube channel, we’re trying to post a short video every day while we’re on the road. This week was all about getting out of the cold. Now that we’re in the warmer weather, we’re going to take it a little slower and enjoy the ride.

So look for many more pictures and stories in next week’s issue, as we head ever closer to Louisiana.

Quote of the Week

That wraps up another week with Snale Racing! We’ll leave you with the quote that was most powerful for us this week. We knew right away which quote we would use today, but check out the entire verse. Kind of gives it a different meaning, doesn’t it? Peace!✌
