What’s up, y’all! It’s fall in Oregon, and if you don’t know what that’s like, let’s set the scene.
When you wake in the morning, it’s cool enough that you’ll probably need a jacket. Don’t worry, though, by 3 pm, you’ll be stripped down to the bare necessities because it’s gotten so warm. Going from 40° to 90° isn’t the strangest part, though.
It gets better.
Because you don’t have to wait for dark for it to get cold again. As soon as the sun drops below the mountain, you lose 15-20° instantly.
Layers, people. That’s where it’s at in Oregon, even though the standard issue “Oregon local” outfit is a hoodie, a pair of shorts and sandals/flip flops/occasionally boots.
The other ingredient that makes an Oregon autumn really unique is that we’re heading into marijuana harvest season. At this time of year, the smell of tens of thousands of fully burdened plants can permeate your very existence. Different people have different opinions on whether or not the smell is a bad thing; the fact remains, it is indeed a thing. This is Oregon, after all.
We love this season, and we’re glad it’s here. What about you? Any special things you like to do at this time of year? Let us know in the comments!
Video of the Week
Meet Danny Bonaduce, one of the current works in progress in the Snale Racing garage. A non-running 1985 Toyota 4Runner that jess decided she just had to have. If you’ve ever visited the garage, you’ll know that this project and the Fairlady have been here a while.🤭
It’s time for them to finally go away, though. Start with this video and catch up on Danny’s progress until now, so you’ll be up to date when the new vid drops!
What We’ve Been Up To
Instead of doing anything truck related this week, jess dragged gnob off on a Bigfoot chase.
To be more accurate, it was the Brown Mountain Bigfoot Chase 5k Trail Race. While jess was scrambling through the forest, gnob captured some beautiful pics of Lake of the Woods, Oregon.
It was 50°F at 5000’ elevation that morning, and what a beautiful morning it was to run through the Oregon forest! If you’re wondering how jess did on the run, sorry, there will be no spoilers here.😜 You can read her story about the Bigfoot chase here, though.
We also did something pretty ridiculous for a couple who is planning on living in their truck with two dogs:
We got another dog.
Rocky is a 9 year old mini Aussie, and an amazing snuggle buddy. We’ve been easing him into the family this week, and everyone has been getting along splendidly - humans, dogs, and tortoise alike. Can’t wait for you to meet him!
That wraps up another week with Snale Racing! We’ll leave you with the quote that was most powerful for us this week. Peace!
