Dance in the Kitchen 'til the Mornin' Light
Location: Gold Hill, Oregon
What’s up, y’all!
Got Louisiana on my mind this week, because we are headed there shortly! As some of you know, we set February 14 as our date to have both project cars finished/sold and get the house on the market, so that we could hit the road full time.
Might have been slightly overambitious. 🤣
But either way, I’ve got to be in Baton Rouge to run a half marathon on March 4th, and oh, and I went ahead and signed up for the Houston Spartan Race on March 12th. Since I’ll be down South anyway, and obstacle course racing is my new obsession, well…🏃♀️🔆
So we decided to modify our plans just a bit, and we’re headed out whether we’re ready or not.
Yep, gnob has given his notice at work, and sometime in February, we’ll be departing for a month or two to road trip from Oregon to Louisiana and back again. It will be a nice dry run for the Snale. We can find the last few kinks in our setup, and then still have a garage when we return to make whatever modifications we need.
We’ve already got a house sitter lined up, and the tortoise is going to go ahead and make the move to his new home, so we won’t have to worry about him. Got a few other details to sort out, but couldn’t wait to share the news with you! It’s finally time to hit the road!
You may have also noticed we changed the name of the newsletter this week. Let us know what you think! Is Snale Trails too cheesy? You know I hate to be cheesy. Okay, no. No, I really don’t hate it. Dad jokes and terrible puns are totally where it’s at.
Video of the Week
Building Dual Marlin Transfer Cases in an '85 4Runner
This one has slowly become one of our more popular videos. I think we had only gotten the GoPro that week, and during the teardown portion, we simply mounted it on a ladder in front of us and recorded the whole thing. Terribly boring. The second half of the video with the build portion is much more interesting, because we finally started using the action camera with some action! Just my opinion. Watch it and tell us what you think.
Though I suppose the first half isn’t that boring. gnob and I love talking sh*t to each other, and we do a lot of it in this video! 😁
What We’ve Been Into
This week I read The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran. I immediately had to share it with gnob because it made such an impression. Most people don’t reach their goals (if they bother to set any - that’s a WHOLE other can of worms) because they set them too far out. Though this book is geared towards business, it can totally be applied to your personal life.
Instead of thinking about what you can get done in a year, make your projects 12 weeks long. Then you can get even more accomplished, because you’ll now have four years within each calendar year!
Of course, this also assumes you’re ready to work hard. Like David Goggins said, most people just want to dream, they don’t want to do the work it takes to make dreams come true. 💔
If you haven’t heard of David Goggins, former Navy Seal and all-around badass extraordinaire, you should definitely check out this interview with him. Stay hard!
Quote of the Week
That wraps up another week with Snale Racing! We’ll leave you with the quote that was most powerful for us this week. Though I don’t think we’ll be stepping into any rivers this time of year. Peace!✌
